In the Monitorul Oficial of Romania, Part I, no. 1017 of 21 December 2017 was published Law no. 260 of December 19, 2017 for amending and supplementing Government Ordinance no. 81/2000 on the certification of the classification of vehicles registered or registered in the technical regulations on road safety, environmental protection and in the category of use according to destination, by periodical technical inspection.

Consolidated form of OG No. 81/2000 will be made available by the date of entry into force, on this website, under the heading: Useful information / Regulations / 2. National legislation in the field of activity of R.A.R.

*) In accordance with art. III of Law nr. 260/2017, the provisions of art. 2 para. (3) point .b) and Article 2 para. (31), as amended by law, shall apply from 1 January 2018; the provisions in question refer to the periodical technical inspection (roadworthiness test) of passenger cars (motor vehicles intended for the transport of persons having, in addition to the driver’s seat, not more than 8 seats):
– for cars with a minimum age of 12 years, the time limit for carrying out roadworthiness test is reduced from 2 years to 1 year (except for vehicles of historical interest);
– for new cars, the roadworthiness test interval increases from 2 years to 3 years;
– for passenger cars in circulation, the date of the next periodical roadworthiness test mentioned in the annex to the vehicle registration certificate shall remain valid.
